I. Preparation before pressing
(1) SMC quality inspection
The quality of SMC sheet has a great influence on the molding process and product quality. Therefore, before pressing, we must understand the quality of the material, such as resin paste formula, resin paste thickening curve, glass fiber content, glass fiber infiltrant type. Single weight, film peelability, hardness and quality uniformity, etc.

(2) Cutting
According to the structure and shape of the product, the position of the material, the process to determine the shape and size of the sheet cut, make a sample, and then cut the material according to the sample. The shape of the cut is mostly square or round, and the size is mostly 40% to 80% of the projected surface area of the product. In order to prevent the contamination of external impurities, the upper and lower films are removed before loading.
(3) Equipment preparation
① familiar with the operating parameters of the press, in particular, to adjust the working pressure and press running speed and table parallelism.
② mold installation must be horizontal, and ensure that the installation position in the center of the press table, before pressing to thoroughly clean the mold, and apply mold release agent. Before adding material, use clean gauze to wipe the mold release agent, so as not to affect the appearance of the product. For new molds, oil should be removed before use.
Charging
(1)Determination of charging quantity
The amount of each product in the first press can be calculated according to the following formula charging amount (g) = product volume (cm?0?6) X 1.8 (g)
(2) The determination of the charging area The size of the charging area directly affects the degree of compactness of the product, the flow distance of the material and the surface quality of the product.
It is related to the flow and curing characteristics of SMC, product performance requirements, mold structure and so on. General charging area of 40% -80%, too small will flow too long and lead to glass fiber orientation. Reduce the strength, increase the degree of corrugation, and even can not fill the mold cavity. Too large, not conducive to exhaust, easy to produce cracks in the product.
(3) Feeding position and method
The feeding position and method directly affect the appearance, strength and orientation of the products. Normally, the feeding position should be in the middle of the mold cavity. For non-symmetrical complex products, the feeding position must ensure that the material flow reaches all ends of the mold cavity at the same time. The charging method must be conducive to air venting. Multi-layer sheet stacking, it is best to stack the material block according to the top small bottom large in a pagoda shape. In addition, the blocks should not be added separately as far as possible, otherwise, it will produce air wrapping and fusion zone, resulting in a decrease in the strength of the products.
